I read a lot of stuff, but lately I have been reading more military themed books.

I just finished "Not A Good Day To Die" by Sean Naylor. It's a recollection of the run up to Operation Anaconda and the ensuing battles in Afghanistan. Pretty riveting stuff and I would recommend highly.

I tried to follow the Military books but just doesn't grab me you know? But I can sit down with one of my Louis L'Amore books and not get up till the end. He's the only author I have ever read that can grab my attention like that.

I am reading the "Outlander" series by Diana Gabaldon. Set mostly in 1700's Scotland it's a cross between Romance and Action with a little bit of science fiction.
It's very graphic in all areas so on one page you can be reading about an incredible sex scene and on the next the surgery to repair a scrotum that was stabbed with a broadsword. Lots of war, and lots of Scottish history. Very good books!

I don't think I ever read a book cover to cover, even in school. I just can't get in to it. I read magazines all the time, and read the newspaper every day. I might watch one movie a year.

SPY, by Ted Bell

It's a realistic fiction about what happens when all the groups/nations that hate America join forces with Mexico and attack through Texas.

Nightmares and Dreamscapes by Stephen King. I know it's old, but I like his short stories better. My Pretty Pony is about the best story in the book.
The main character is a straight forward no bullshit farmer facing his own mortality and trying to give his grandson some Instruction, people don't listen to advice he says.
His style and commonsense can be so dry and funny at the same time. A must read.

Wow, what a story. I have a better understanding of what the troops on the ground over in Afghanistan are facing. It's the Middle Ages over there. I just can't imagine some of it.
