i been thinking how to make the exhaust eliptical shape without getting too close to the edge of the transfer. i dont hold everything in gordon jennings book as gospel because i dont think he wants to give every joe blow the thumbs up to modify their motor to the max, but he mentions not getting closer than .350" or theres a chance of short circuiting unless the transfer is aimed sharply toward the rear of the cylinder. ive seen cylinders that im pretty positive are much less than .350, just wondering if anyone knows first hand what or if anything detremental happens when you get narrower than .350" ?? heres kind of what i want to do, the green arrow shows the area in question

Do yourself a bigger favor, and remove the bridge....

good point and theres no question there would be benefits from removing it, but to keep the rings from snagging, the exhaust shape must be very precise. im going to leave it in, for now atleast

If your running a weisco, the bridge is releived to the point the rings arent touching it.
If its .oo4" away, or not there at all.... whats the difference?????

Thats what was done to mine. .350? mine could be less but you won't know for another two years or so.
As for removing the bridge, maybe the second to last bore or the last one. What the hell either a new sleeve or cylinder anyway.
