Hmm, I detect a slight bias towards the thumper.

C'mon - at least make it fair in the handling department. There is another article comparing a SH 500 to a 450 which is a tad better.
The CR500 is an acquired taste. If you don't like it, acquire some taste...

You guys should get ahold of them and have Mike build a bike and do the shoot out again. Then see what they think. It was cool to read, they shouldv'e got a rider who had competed on a 500 before just to even the feild a little. But it was still way cool!

In the end, our pro racer came to a convoluted conclusion. If the CR500 engine was placed in the lighter, better suspended and more modern CRF450 chassis, he’d prefer to race the CR500.

Take a 2009 CRF450R, a Service Honda based on a Gen4 250, and TTM's bike based on a Gen3 125 and do a follow-up test. That would be cool journalism.
