Here's my '97. Never did much in the way of overhauling it .... Just one facelift, and normal maintenance.

Here she is , all cleaned up..

The day before her first "Dune" ride

After her "Facelift"

Image
Here we are at Kennedy Meadows. We went Off road, Desert, Forrest, Duneing, everywhere together...... NEVER let me down, or was pushed back to the truck.....

We all had steelies back then.... Seems like a long time ago....

I think this is the last known photo of her.... But she lives on.

The motor is in my CR500AF/X

The Lewis clan has allot of her, spread across all their bikes.

Bruce has a little bit of her.

I think Zorak does too.......

She was a real good bike....

One year during the AZ ride, the temps hit 112, someting like that.

I lost all my coolant, and had to "improvise"...

I said to myself, never again...

Its a old ,freezable, "Istant Ice" bottle..... $1

It worked great, but we never rode when it was that hot again anyways....

That has to be the prettiest site I've ever seen.

Sweet bike man, too bad she ended up being an organ donor.

Bob,
Do you miss anything about the steelie as opposed to your AF? Just curious.

Ya know, I do....

Imagine trading your highschool sweetheart for a supermodel

Imagine the new dog that replaced the one who just died.

Imagine moving into a new bigger house, because the smaller house where you grew up burned down.

Every situation listed is a "upgrade".... but you still long for the past. Its what makes us human.

I still own the frame.

If I build a new motor for the A/F, that motor is going back into the steelie, and we will be together agian.

Other than memories, the A/F beats the steelie in every way.
