Bret and I finished 3rd in the Moto A Go Go Team Event Extreme Sports Category to Shaun Palmer and Josh Hills team, our best finish in 6 years. :D I ended up 25th (same as last year) in the hour and half Coup de Grace event out of like 100+ riders. I think Bret was around 31st. Special thanks to DW7 for being our Pit Man and Austin Fox and Nate Redman for taking care of the bikes. I also met up with redrocket190, rode in practice and a class with him. Good times. :D

Had a great weekend, despite a bit of a hiccup in the first race. I lost it in the second set of doubles in the pit and hail mary handful of gas put my bike in the perimeter fence. That would have been OK, but I went over said fence sans bike and augered into the service road on my head and shoulder. After one of those "which day of the week is it?" moments I got back on and finished, but was in cruise mode for the rest of the weekend. The track was great; really fast and jumping in and out of the pit was pretty cool. With the new jetting the AF fired up first kick (at last!) and ran like clockwork every time out. Some of the bumpy bits overwhelmed the front-end which is still effectively an X setup so I am going to get that taken care of. I didn't see another AF, but I did see '83 480s and '86, '87 and '88 500s there for the vintage races. Saw several '79 Red Rockets and really regretted not getting mine ready to race (next year!). Met a guy who I bump into every GP and our families hung out for the weekend. He and his son both got holeshot T-shirts and the son got 3rd in his class after giving up a huge lead getting his CRF250R re-fired after stalling. It would be very cool to ride in the same race as my son or daughter one day. I did meet Mr. P on the line and exchange a few words before he lapped me in practice and the race! Swung by his rig and took a close up look at his hill climb bike that was on show - cool beyond words. Anyway I learn that CRC is running GPs on the same track over the next two weekends so I am going to see if I can heal up for the second one.

Imagine one and half hours wrestling 300+ lbs around with 4" of suspension....

A few guys were leaving the pit pinned in 5th and landing on the back-side of a low table top half-way to the next corner. Humbling or what?

...and during the Moto A GoGo race on Sunday the shuttle landed at Edwards AFB some 10 or so miles away. We saw it pass high up and heard a double sonic boom.
