With the big three in the news everyday here in Detroit, I am sure the whole country has to hear about it too. I would like to hear everybody's opinon on the automotive bail out for the auto companies. What do you think? Loan them the money so they can survive and restructure, or let them crumble and start the auto industry all over again. They never report what the rest of the country has to say about it. I would like to hear what everybody else thinks. Whats your opinion? Thanks

I am biased because a good portion of my personal income is achieved through a healthy automotive industry.

The more I think about this, I believe that the industry as it is today is crashing under it's own weight and has to be blown up to build it back to compete with the Japanese automakers. Almost all of the major US airlines have filed bankruptcy at some point and they are still flying. Cars will still get built, but it won't be the same as it was.

I heard this comparison on the radio the other day. The guy said that $2,000.00 of a Ford Taurus sticker price goes towards UAW benefits, whereas a comparable Toyota Camry has that same $2,000.00 spent on upgrades to the model, so when people get in the Toyota they actually feel the difference.

Ever notice that when one of the foreign automakers build a plant in the US it's not in a large city? Honda has opened a new plant in Greensburg, IN that will employ 2000 people. Greensburg has a population of about 10,000.

There needs to be equal opportunity to export our cars too.

I worry what the net effect would be on the already shaky economy if the Big 3 fail. In addition to those workers losing some of their jobs, every supplier of the industry will feel the effect too and some of those people will lose their jobs. More unemployment = less people spending money and our consumer based economy needs cash.

I have no answers, but it should be obvious to everyone that the Big 3 need to fucking wake up and realize it's a new day and business as usual is not working.

P.S.
Why is it that Ford is building these cars for the European market that would be great for the US but either cannot bring them to the US or refuse to do so? NHTSA safety standards could be waived until such time as they got the US lines changed to build these cars here and designed to meet our front impact standards no?

I used to spend a great deal of time in the Ford assembly plant here in St. Louis on business when it was still open. I never knew anyone on the line making that kind of dough. Maybe some were, but all of my contacts were making about half that, with killer benefits.

I know the prices in some parts of the country are much higher than others, but when they got the bright idea to charge almost as much as some people pay for their houses, for a fuking truck, what the fuk did they expect to happen? Then they have the balls to all take seperate private jets to DC then go in begging with no idea how they're gonna fix the problem! Let em go.

I am for the bail-out but not so much for the automakers, but for all of the 3 million families that it will effect. I think that the bail-out should come with strict rules and regulations on how the cash should be spent. They say that the big three employ 1 million people directly and 3 million indirectly. I would just hate to see all of those Americans (tax-payers) go under due to the big three's mis-management. I say help the American people more than the auto maker. . .Oh yeah, why are we helping insurance companies like AIG again? ? ?

They said on the news tonight, that between July and September or October they were spending 150 million per day! What the Fuk! Now they want more dollars and for what? So they too can keep buying $1000 bottles of wine? Fuk them! I feel bad for the famillies, but they will get screwed anyway. The CEO's should have given a little thought to the future, just like all the other mofo's and CEO's that have completely fuked this country. Now everyone and their fukin brother is going to come looking for hand out's when does it stop?

I sure as hell hope it stops before we get to this.
