Does anyone have a CR 500 engine bored to 91 mm? I am wondering in general what jetting modifications were needed to accomodate the increased displacement - needle clip change, larger main etc.? I know that jetting is affected by many factors but what would be a good baseline jetting to use with a 91 mm CR 500?

shouldn't need anything, thats a very small difference in displacement.
I had one bored that far and it ran stock jets.
My cousni Andy (hoofarted) its running 91mm on him '92 motor running a 55pilot, 172 main and DGN 3rd clip, I believe... stock...

I see some shift levers that say they fit 83 to 88 and more that say they fit 83 to 01 and yet more that say 89-01. Are there any differences in the shift levers in any of years - different shape perhaps?

I have a pile or shifters, 85, 86, 89, 90 and a pile of cr250 shifers. the 250 shifters are shaped a little differently, and I'm running on on my gen-1. all year cr500 shifters look the same to me. might be a very slight difference in length, but the splines and ignition cover size and location are the same for all years cr500

The one I am looking on eBay at says:

FITS 84-87 / 93-02 HONDA CR250

FITS 84-88 HONDA CR500

Not sure how accurate this is. I think I will buy and if it needs a little bending I will modify.

Thats the only combo the bike has ran consistant with.. Ran an entire season with it like that and had no issues.. aside from not idleing i had no blubber and no hesitation off the throttle or thru any of the rpm range. I want to drop the main to a 195/200 and see if i can get some more of my top end back.. but that has been the most reliable setup in my carb.. I threw a 190 and a PC pipe on there and it turned the pipe blue within one ride and blew a coolant hose off.. so i dunno.. Id rather be fat and foul a plug than burn a hole in the piston.. so until i can get the green for one of those fancy 41mm pwks im gonna run it this way..

Kinda weird eh how there could be that much difference in one carb to the next,I'm sure yours is not the only one like that though
