I have found GSS porting pics and K&T but nothing on loomis.
I have decided between GSS & loomis to port my cylinder or cylinders but want some pics to make my decision. Any pics or any other porting shop recommendations would be great thanks.

ever thought about doing your own ? alot of the fundamentals apply to all 2strokes. i just bought a new pipe for my steely and took the top end off while i was at it. just finished doing my own porting today, if the weather holds good ill let you know how it runs in a week or so

clean looking work, but I would have done a lot more with the boost ports (upper and lower) and done a lot more work to that exhaust bridge.

I did my own porting work, it worked out, but was a huge trial and error. boost ports and widening the exhaust seem to yeild the most improvement, but it becomes a beast that is impossible to control. by extending the intake and exhaust timing though raising ports, you mellow out the immediate hit and build more power in the higher RPMs.
If you have the confidence to do it, I highly recommend it, but from waht Jay Lewis says, his loomis bikes are the fastest. GSS does some great quality work.
what kinds of riding do you do, what kind of porting work were you after?

Wow!! Who performed the abortion on the LT500R?? I'd say that work screams Pro Choice...
Lunatic what good is porting pics going to do you? Some of you guys have alot sharper eyes than I do...like 100hp honda

Because there's no way in hell I could determine how a motor is going to run by looking at a photo. If I judged this book by it's cover I'd say Doug Ruth was among the best in the biz, that is some CLEAN work done on that jug! Looks excellent to me...not overkill, just right.
Anybody who ports 2 stroke motors for a living probably does a decent job. Save for the doctor who performed the abortion mentioned above...he probably just slept at a Holiday Inn the night prior.
I've tossed around names until my head hurt. I've ridden Pro Action ported 250s I loved, Pro Circuit bikes that were scary fast and a pair of KX500s ported by Varner that were very impressive. If I like the 250 ignition mod and decide to keep it I'll have Eric Gorr smooth the motor back out. If I don't like the mod I'll probably contact GSS.

i can use my home depot tools and make cylinder ports look good for a photo shoot......seeing the bike IN ACTION is what tells the real story

some of the fastest jugs aren't pretty. mine isn't all that pretty, nothing like that quadzilla jug, but still, nothing as clean as the pros jugs, but my bike is one fast mambajamba
its all about what you are after with the bike as I stated earlier in the thread. Full drag race jugs will look nothing like a jug for trail.
a badass drag race jug usually looks pretty hacked since there isn't much material left combined with additional drilled ports and resized/reshaped ports. Aesthetics don't matter for shit when it comes down to flow and timing, they only matter when it comes down to sales. That really clean looking jug would have a lot of people sold on it because its so shiney, but from looking at it, I can tell you thats nothing more than a trail porting job. I can't tell from the pics if any timing mods were done, but there was no major port changes, just a REALLY nice cleanup.

ya, that all comes back to my theory on aesthetics and sales... everything on my jugs is knife edged and setup for flow, but I used a large grit sand roll on the intake side, then hit the main intake just in front of the reeds with a rotary rasp to rough it up a little. I actually used a garden hose to help me with shaping and redirecting stuff. it helped a lot with shaping the lower boost ports, my drilled additional transfers and reshaping my transfer ports to direct the charge where I want it

not EVERYTHING, just the areas that need it, you know what I mean...

I really think the biggest restriction is in the exhaust port flange area. Im trying a bigger flange and opening up the flange area to a saber size flange.
