Mavrick took a real head thumpin' yesterday..... No helmet, or common sense.....

Cepek will post the pics, and account of what happened.

Could have ended MUCH worse than it did.... Mav got lucky.

Wear those brain buckets, Hoon's.......

hey guys....kinda scary yesterday with mav.

we went out to the land of toothless women (barstow and home to brit) for a couple hour ride. got back to the truck from a really good ride and we were just relaxing and cooling off when we get a guy on a quad making my truck a pylon for his "track"....mav got pissed off and after yelling at the fool for a bit...so he jumped on his bike to go yell at him for a bit (yes without his helmet) when he was just behind the guy on the quad...the rider made a quick turn to the right and mav smacked right into him and over the bars he went....when the dust settled mav was on his hands and knees (from what brit tells me his favorite position) he was 200 feet from the truck so we ran out to see if he was ok...but he had lots of blood coming from his head.....so we sat him down and i went to throw everything in truck and trailer and mav's buddy blake that was there got him loaded into someones geo tracker style vehicle and into my truck....we were loaded and on road within 4 minutes of crash.....hospital was only 7 miles away...at this point mav was overly repeating himself on the ride there...."was i wearing a helmet?...'no'............im an idiot"...and..should you call an ambulance" he could not remember the day....if we went riding...if we stayed the whole weekend or anything from the night before......he was at the barstow hospital for 8 hours.....13 staples in his head and not an ounce common sence from the hospital...so we got him released and took him to mission hospital in mission viejo to have him properly checked out......turns out the barstow hospital left a few rocks, sand and dirt in his injury....so at mission he had to get the staples removed, properly cleaned and then restapled.....he got home from mission this morning around 5am and just went over to see him....he is very sore but in good spirits.....he can remember most thing from yesterday except for the crash and ride to hospital....he is one lucky guy for how bad he crashed and a miracle that he did not get hurt any more than he did....

the dude on the quad had no helmet and spoke very little english but didnt see any real damage to that a-hole.

im sure he will have plenty of down time this week to stop in and let him tell you how dumb he was..

Concusions are strange...tell your buddy you found him first with his pants around his ankles and a base ball bat stuck in his ass to the handle. That's what my asshole friends told me. Have someone watch him closely. What's really strange about concusions and the post trauma effects on the brain are what may happen 48-72 hours after the accident. Just because he's smoking and joking one minute, doesn't mean he won't keel over dead as a door nail the next.

But damn...riding without a helmet
He's awfully lucky to live long enough to NOT make that mistake again.
There is not a helmet made that costs too much for that think tank upstairs. How much is yours worth? Mine was only $430 :shortbus:

Damn that sucks !! Get well Mav. Then go find the gay quadder and beat his ass for using the truck as a pylon.

True story: During 4th of july this year we all went to the dunes to do the firework thing. We had two big square pieces of wood on the ground about 10 ft from the back of my truck which was parked parallel to a 15 foot dune. My 12 year old and I were lighting a couple of mortors and as we stepped back from the tubes some fuckin quadder went up the dune face and used my truck as a pylon and as he passed between us and my truck he clipped the back of my leg and took off into the crowd. I tried to chase him on foot, but no way, he was gone. He could've taken out my son if my son had run backwards another foot or so. If I would've caught him his ass would be beaten severly. Fortunately for him I never saw him again.

wow! I just got off the phone with SOLID and he told me the story. How is MAV feeling today? that situation totally sucks. Mav is young will heal quickly I am sure. :)

Its hard to keep your cool in a situation like that, but it almost never turns out the way you want it to when acting out of anger. I probably would have done the same thing though. My temper usually hurts me more than anybody else.

Hang in there Mav. Mission Hospital was my favorite when I lived in Aliso Viejo. I spent some quality time in ER and Maternity there...oh..and San Clemente Hospital too. (lost my thumb in between my chain, rag and sprocket...yes the engine was on and in gear...shut up already, I know that was a dumb idea, Hell I knew it was dumb while I was doing it, but my chain was dirty and I was in a hurry.)

ok, east coast non-desert guy here...

when you guys say " used my truck as a pylon " are you saying someone is basicly driving toward your truck, then swerving around it at the last minute??

Mission is a good hospital, my first born was delivered there and they treated us very well and definitly took care of business. wish I could say the same for vegas hospitals
Ya, people make fun of me a lot and call me "dad" or more appropiately "what, are you my fucking DAD?!" but when I see people riding without the brain bucket, it gets me riled up. I understand mavs situation and he wasn't just riding around all day w/o one, but I see that a lot and always give people a hard time. $100 helmet is a lot better than a $11,000 chopper ride and a closed down riding area for everyone else.
lots of beaners have goten into picking up those peckerboys knock off qwads and riding 3 peeps to a bike without helmets  darwinism at its best

hang in there Mav, I had a concussion once when I was little and it really sucked!

Ok new guy here, still getting to know everyone, but I hope you get tof eeling better soon man, glad to here it didnt go any worse than what it did. Why are quad guys such idiots. This is the on eI love.Idiot, "What size dirt bike is that?". Me, "a 490 2 stroke." Idiot, "Is it fast?" Me,"What do you think?" Idiot gets quiet, then grins at his buddy,"Wanna race?" I had that happen with me on my old 490 and a kid on a warrior, a 4 stroke trail bike four wheeler. a very slow one at that. I took a lot of money from that poor kid that day. oops.
