Mornin',

So I'm getting ready to rebuild my CR5 motor in preparation for making my CR powered KTM rideable. I was hoping that folks could have a look at my parts list and help me determine if I am missing anything. Here it goes:

* Gasket kit (061A0-ML3-405) I would expect this to contain all of the gaskets that I will need.
* All oil seals for the crank case
* Crank bearings (91008-KAE-731) Are there any other bearings that I should get?
* Piston, wrist pin, needle bearing, clips
* Exhaust manifold seal
* Drive gear collar

Are there any other 'must have' parts that I should order apart from those that are obviously a point of wear?

Any time I have the cases apart, I'd go ahead and replace every bearing in that joker. There are alot of them. Use your own disscretion, but it's not like you split cases very often. I think it's healthy to bolt it back together with zero hour bearings and seals throughout.

Check it out: http://www.hondaparts-direct.com/fiche_ ... detail.asp

I've only had this CR motor split once so far. I just stockpiled every bearing, seal and gasket the motor took before I even began the rebuild.

Hondaparts-direct looks like a great site! Thanks for the link. Does anyone know if all gaskets and o-rings are included in the gasket kit sold by these guys?

I would say replace the bearing on the main tranny shaft where the clucth is at minium.

You've gotta have some of these links on speed dial. Beside the "home" button in the toolbar I've got a button that takes me directly to the CR500 Honda Parts page. Ohhh Yeeahh...

My bad bro...I didn't realize this had already been posted like five times!

Well, beside the part #s it tells you how many of that part your motor takes. And if there are multiple #s for one part it usually says because it's replaced one other (usually marked in red). Do you have an example? Maybe if I knew what parts you were talking about I'd have a clearer answer.

Ok...

#11 for instance. Your main bearings. It's listed three times for the same part. It's a typo as far as I'm concerned. You only need two of them. You see the 1 or 3 above them? That's to reference where that particular part goes. For instance 1 and 3 are left and right side crankcases. So those are the left and right side crank case bearings. This making any sense?
Another example: The number 3 above 33. 3 again is right side crankcase and 33 is one of the drive bearings I guess. Besides that the numerous 33s, 32s and 15s is just streamlining production.

the more i stare at it the more it does. Looks like about 180 bucks worth of bearings and seals and crank case gasket to get the bottom end rebuilt.. not to mention any tranny parts if i need em..

Cross reference the parts with Service Honda. It seems to me SH has slightly better prices on larger parts (like the tranny) than HPD. But HPD probably has them beat on the bearings, gaskets and seals. I don't know? Just something that has stuck out in my mind lately purchasing parts.

All told I spent about $400 for all of the bearings, seals, gaskets, stock Honda piston and some other odds and ends. And like other posters have mentioned, I just looked through the micro fische and figured out which bearings, seals and whatnot that I needed. Pretty easy, really. Parts should be here on Monday the 11th and she should be up and running by the following weekend. I can't wait!! :nanna:
