thats what happens when you forget to pay your bills. Happened to me once.. My buddy didnt renew his domain name which happened to be the name of our DNS box and boy what a fun day that was.. Took almost 48hours for everything to come back up after reconfiguring a new DNS Name...
And the original name was already purchased by someone else.
