Suggestions Please!! Steelie KYB vs. 04+ Showa Dual Chamber

Ready to send the forks and rear shock on my 2000 steelie out to get re-sprung and revalved. I was considering sending the stuff off to Enzo and maybe even snatching up some of the subtanks he offers for the forks, but I have not done any research on those yet.
The other option is to pick up some dual chamber Showa off a late model CRF like many have done, then send those off for the same treatment. The Showa conversion looks to be about $400-$500 via ebay for unless I sold off my original KYB stuff and front wheel to recoup some of the cost, which I would not.
What would you guys do? How much better would those dual chambers really be, with equal mods to both? I know they're light years ahead in technology and feel great on the CRFs but I dunno about my old steelie.
Also does anyone have any comment on front axle placement on the Showas? I can't find anywhere online if the dimensions are the same or close to the 2000's KYBs. I'm concerned with different steering characteristics than stock...
