This thread was started on another board and I figured mine would be around $200 per dune trip, I broke it down and I was wayyy off....

Bikes im in both probably $5000, my trailer cost me $4000, the truck is $400 a month, insurance is $200 a month, $100 for a season pass.

Per trip

$100 in gas for the truck
$100 in race gas
$25 nitrous
$25 premix
$20 gas for the genny
$100 for stuff that breaks and or flats
$100 for food and beer
$50 in weed

$500 per trip plus all the other stuff....

yup, I usually go on a budget...
truck, used to take one I own outright, but now its $404/mo+$240/mo ins
no trailer, just camping gear (bed tent, colman grill and stove and cooler full of ice) its a lot easier to just crash in MFDBs trailer though :D
going to dumont I use a tank of gas in the truck ~$80
5 gal of 100 octane is $30
927 for that 5 gal ~$10
most weekend trips would require about 2 jugs =$80 in bike gas
food, I'm a cheap ass and pack hotdogs, bacon and eggs and gatorade ~$20
no season pass, so $30 to get in.
so... 80+80+20+30=$210 BARE MINIMUM
thats if I don't have to buy a cali reg sticker and don't brake anything on the bike!
MFDB and the missus probably drop $600 per trip since they pack a ton of food and have to top off the propane and run the generator, and all the diesel fuel to get there  plus Mrs. MFDB packs some serious food, they go out there with more than I usually have in my kitchen at home!

Man you guys make Racing Vet X sound cheap.

Practice before the race;
20 gas for truck to and from say Elsinore, Glen Helen, or Milestone.
55 if Cahuilla or Racetown.
20-25 for gate fee,
$4.50 bike gas and premix, only use a gallon per 20 laps.
$5.00 couple of gatorade and water.

Plus lose of sleep for getting up early during the week and still make work that day and driving home at midnight.

Race day;
20 or 55 truck gas depending on which track,
20-30 for overnight camping and the next days spectaor fee.
35 to enter the race with transponder.
50 for food.

Now times that by 5 or 6 races per series.

$80 for new Maxxis SI at the end of the series, unless I get a freebie as part of the prizes.
Plus its getting time for a new chain and sprockets, its been like four years now. Expecting to pay about $200 for what lasts.

I don't even want to know what you Hillclimbers pay in gas alone.

Oh ya, $25 donation towards the Mai Tai fund.

I always run c-12, or u-4 mixed 1/2 with premium so fuel is lots, but 300 yards from the garage is my cousins pro practice track that most canadian pro-mx riders get to atleast a few times a year, they say its the best outdoor track in Canada. then if i want to go to the hills, they're a mile west of me, and i own 4 miles of them north and 6 miles of them south west. beyond that is a great aunts valley to the south, and north a great uncles. Theres 3 old bentonite mines with some good bike tracks made on them. I havent hauled a bike except to a hillclimb in fordville.

if you check this out, then zoom out the trees to the left, south and north are the hills

home..http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&g ... iwloc=addr

I'm probably into the bike for $50.00 per ride + stupid shit like fenders
$20.00 small shit per ride
$25.00 per tank of fuel average (sometimes 4 tanks a day riding 10am til you cant see the fender to come home)
$5.00 a ride towards a rear tire

Jeez this is irritating but so true.

200 in Diesel
60 in bike gas
230 in Trailer Gas (Gen&Pump Station)
?? Propane
200 in Food/Drinks/Beer
? Passes
? Maintenance on all bikes and TH/TV
? Insurance/Tags on TH/TV
? Payments on TH/TV

Damn....expensive ass hobby. But I do the whole thing with the family. When I think back 10,20,30 years from now, I know the kids will remember every time. I cannot say the same for myself.

damn those are some exspensive trips.
for a 16 year old kid to have a day trip to go riding:
$20 for 5 gallons of gas to drive 35 miles(damn big block)
$10-20 for gas and oil in bike
$10 for food and drinks or just take some from the parents fridge
average trip cost $40 as long as i dont break anything.

Yeah, I got into dirt bikes thinking they'd be a "cheap" hobby. I was horribly wrong. On the plus side, it's still lightyears ahead of my car habit. I might end up selling my Charger just because I can't see myself being able to afford it in the not-so-distant future.

I have probably $4k in my bike and bike-related accessories, my truck is also $400/month but will probably be ditched in favor of a cop car sometime soon, each trip to get to a decent riding spot in Michigan for fuel alone is $200, $50 in gas/premix, etc. Each time we head out to Silver Lake it's an easy $200 weekend, splitting traveling costs between several people. It's hard to beat the fun per dollar, though...

Definitely. I don't fear for my life on a 250F, the constant threat of injury wiht my bike keeps it entertaining. :D
