well i found a gem, an 89 one owner bike that you can eat off of, real good price too. i explained all the drama ide been through with buying bikes and parts and the guy offered to let me give him a deposit and keep the bike for a week so i can see that its all he says it is. i picked it up this mornign and rode damn near all day. i pulled the reed cage and checked the piston out, its a nice clean ( not blown to pieces like my other one) wiseco. he had family cycle in turlock rebuild and reseal the whole motor in january of 06' with reciepts of damn near a grand on everything he spent on the motor. good title and green stickered, couldnt turn it down. ill ride it and go through more of it the rest of the week but i dont see why i wouldnt keep it. ill post of pics tommarow after i wash todays mud off of it

HELLZ YEAH!!!
those '89s were supposed to be pretty bad, lighter crank, more agressive porting and the lighter clutch assembly, they are supposed to rip!

yup, '88 and '89 had a lighter crank, if you look the crank part numbers for '87 and '90+ are the same, but 88 and 89 got the lighter one... and '89 motor would be a great platform to make a high reving bitch!

plus, the '88 and '89 crank is cheaper because most don't really want a lighter crank. its about $100 cheaper, I was thinking about buying one and the spacer to long rod out my '86.

for petes sake, im a magnet for wiered shit happening to me. i was blasting up and down tha canal a little bit ago, AFO 5th gear and the bike got LOUD and pulled a little harder.. look down and see that my silencer is GONE.. yup.. gone. i blew the SOB right off, lol ( actually im sure i didnt tighten it back up good enough when i was messing with the carb yesterday). i went back and looked for it up and down the canal a few times and just as i figured it went IN the very full canal.. peace out brand new turbine core :x otherwise im very very happy with the bike, it hauls ass, shifts like warm butter and rides smooth as fack.. daddy like. now all i need is a silencer, lol

on a side note, 89-90' spark arrestors/silencers are the same as 91+ right?

Since you own it, you should call it a "sissie" bike.

hey, they do alright on 15/45 gearing, as long as you don't hit any single track! HAHA

it seems to be geared ok for what i do, although i only have my 90 to compare it too. the 90 seemed to have a little more top end but it took longer to get there :) this bike definitly pulls harder through the gears and is noticeable quicker off the line. its got a dented up old fmf ( doesent say what model it is) on it and im sure it will be better when its rockin the freshly polished gold series fatty :bling:

 That happened to me last year but I was to embarrassed to write about it on here,my stocker pipe had a long crack by the mount where it mounts under the fuel tank so it was pretty loud already,My silencer & connecting pipe fell off  I knew it had a deeper louder sound but I thought maybe the crack opened up a little more,I didn't even look until I pulled up outside my house,I found mine though.
