How hot does your pipe get?

What temp does a normal pipe run at? I found some pipe wrap that I might use on my rad hose that touches my pipe and need to know if it will with stand the heat. It's rated at 400 degrees direct contact which is why I need it.

most rad. hose is made to withstand hi temps, you can also trim a half inch off the hose to suck it in closer to the engine.

mine not only hit but sqeezed the hose, 88 motor in the AF. Header tube wrap and never a problem with heat or flow

hey hagen, what condition is your 88 kicker in? I need one as a spare since I like the 88 style better. I can trade ya my newer style one for it but it is kinda sloppy, let me know how much if you're interested.
By the way, you can just cut an extra chunk of Radiator hose off, cut it length wise and wrap it around the part that touches the pipe. Secure it with a zip tie to hold it in the same spot. Easy peasy!

I have to find it first and the 88 kicker just doesn't fir on the AF, hits the frame. The idea of the radiator hose is good but as you can see it was already real tight and the rad hose isn't as thin as the wrap and it withstands like 2000 degrees. like always, whatever works works.
: bling :, did you look at the motor out of the 95 in the pic. That thing was sweet. Look at the clutch cover, hardly scratched. I have been doing a lot of trail riding and wanted the upgraded tranny and extra clutch plate etc..... Also the 88 motor is ported and takes 50% race gas. I don't need that power anymore and just want to go riding. It's not like a stock 500 isn't fast enough.

I like the 88 kicker on my Gen 1 AF. I think it gets better motor revolution per kick making my bike easier to start then when I was using the newer style kicker. One part of it does touch the frame but the newer style kicker rattled on the pipe the whole time I rode. Annoying!
I was having starting problems with my bike after I did the top end. Thought I had screwed something up but then remembered that I had put the newer style kicker on. Put my 88 kicker back on and it started in 2 kicks. Tried it again later with the same result. Now, I was also having carb issues that a new carb fixed but I am leaving the 88 on it for sure and would like another as a backup since I dont like the newer style even for a backup.
Let me know if ya find it Hagen.
