I'm mormon. Well, I guess the church tried to get rid of the name...I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints.

Depends on where you are from if the mormons are strict in their religion or not. Just like the preachers daughter, the bishops daughters are no better. I have found that mormons who live in a less morman area are usually a little less hypocritical then those who live in higher percentage mormon areas. I am very open minded about other religions though.
I was kindof an outcast where I am from because I didnt go on a mission and decided to go play college and amature baseball instead.
I am pretty educated but I still like the belief that there is something more to this life then just life and death. Makes it easier when you lose a loved one to know that you will see them again, for example my mother who would have only been 49 2 days ago passed away a couple weeks ago. Very sad time in my life, especially since my biological father came to the funeral and I had to introduce myself to him as his son. So she was really all I had except for an incredible stepdad who raised me as his own from when I was 4.
We mormons are generally pretty good people, but there are some bad ones; dont get me wrong.
I cant be the only one here!

That IMO is the only reason there is any kind of religion, life is pretty damn scarey when once you die there is nothing nada zip.
Keeps everyone in check and out of the "fuk it" attitude

To me ghosts have nothing to do with heaven hell or religion.
Some places and things have a profound effect on people and I think that even after they die a part of them stays behind.

Ben Stein friggin' RULES!
What do I believe? I think "Mankind" crawling up out of the ocean is about as plausable and as a tornado whipping through Brits garage, and assembling a 747.
No way.....

I don't think its an afterlife though, its a tough one thats for sure!
If everyone turned into ghosts this planet would be fukin nuts, I think ghosts are energy of some kind that's left behind somehow....

mainly religous debates in general. No one wins and they cause alot of drama.
I grew up baptist and still believe in it but nobody knows for sure and the only way you can find out is to die.
That's why I said lame.

Thanks DG, my mom was an incredible woman. There were over 1000 people at her funeral in the small church in Egin Idaho (which is the closest one to the sand dunes I might add). I have never seen as many flowers or people at a funeral. She never met a person she didn't make a friend instantly.
I can see all sides of the opinion...like brit says, lights out and you're gone. I can see that maybe religion in general was created to instill some sort of fear in the human mind to keep people somewhat behaved.
I agree with Bob though. There is no way an amoeba somehow evolved into a tadpole fish that flopped on land grew lungs, became a monkey and evolved into a person.
I believe in evolution though, there are short neck turtle that evolved into long neck turtles to reach the vegitation from trees and taller bushed. The thing is that there is still medium and short necked turtles as well as the long neck turtles. Where are all the half man half monkey beings at? Darwin was a brilliant man but I think he got that wrong.
I wanted to get involved in this discussion because there are a lot of false things floating around about mormons that many believe are true. Mormons endured quite a bit in the beginning. I think it was in Missouri that a governor Boggs instated a law that mormons could be killed on site. Tar an feathering was quite common..etc, etc.
There are some quirks to my religion as there is to any religion. I cant speak for everyone in the religion but I can speak for myself in that I find a lot of mormon jokes funny. Anytime I see a minivan or a station wagon I call it a BMW. Basic Mormon Wagon (cause Mormons are nitorious for having big families!) The Lord said multiply and replenish the earth and the mormons take that literally!
I had a return missionary tell me a joke that he heard on his mission...
Let's say Brit dies and goes to Heaven. He meets St. Peter at the pearly gates and peter gives him a tour of heaven. Peter says to Brit, "even though you dont believe in heaven here you are." "If you look over here, you will see the Presbytarians," says Peter. "If you look on your right you see the Jews and Catholics." "Other Atheists such as yourself and here as well and so are the Scientologists!" Then they cam to a hug wall as far as their eyes could see. Brit asks, "what is this for?" St. Peter leans close to Brit and whispers, "you have to be quiet around this wall." Brit whispers back, "Why?" Peter replies, "Because the mormons are on the other side of this wall and they think they are the only ones here."
