changing main jet

this idea is nothing new im sure but i thought up this a while back and took photos for the new guys to save them alot of hassle with undoing airboots and carb. put some cardboard with a crease under the bowl and loosen the drain plug then the gas runs out the side on the ground. then take out the plug and put the 6mm socket and pliers in there and loosen the jet then take it out. instal is just the opposite. this works especialy good in the dunes when you dont want to break the seal between carb and airboot/manifold-almost 0% chance any sand will enter the motor if this procedure is followed

ive loosened the carb and turn it just abit so you can get in with a nutdriver.
also, if you shut the gas off and lean the bike over, you can lose the cardboard and not let gas leak onto the cases.

the cardboard method is suited more for sand applications. if you ever rode the sand you know what i meen. the fewer joints/seals you disturb and undo, the better. but hey theres always gonna be people that dump the bowl all over the motor and undo the carb boots- im not here to change people way of doing things, just trying to add one more way of doing things for some of the new guys that arent mechanicaly knowledgable

why the pliers?Grab yourself a 1/4 Rachet, loosen your clamps enough to tilt your carb and make your life easier,Its a "Dirtbike" Go play in some dirt and make it look like one,Who gives a rats ass about some gas on your engine?Do you even ride that thing?I'm not ribbin ya or anything but I'd like to take your Blinger for a ride and see the look on your face when I bring it back,I bet you'd have it stripped down, frame to the powdercoater, engine to the bead blaster, anything that could polish to the work bench,I don't know how you guys keep em so clean man.

uggh :bash: . the way i do it takes the same time (maybe faster) as the way you do it. with that being said, if loosening front/back clamps, undoing slide cap, turning carb and dumping the gas on your motor floats your boat, then do it your way. i dont have time to explain to every tom, dick, and harry the reason i do things the way i do, besides you obviously wouldnt understand anyhow

Also, next time you have your carb out, run some grease on both boots. If you ever forget to tighten them all the way, and as an extra back up, if any dirt gets in there it will stick to the grease instead of getting sucked into the motor. It also helps rotating the carb. You only need to "loosen" the boot clamps enough to allow the rotation, the grease wont let ant dirt in and helps lube the carb so you dont have to loosen the clamps as much to get it to rotate. The "lean" trick as stated before works great for emptying the bowl before you take the bowl nut out.

Heres how anal bling master MFDB does it.

1) Shut the fuel off, lean teh bike over to empty the bowl.
2) Slightly loosen the clamps till you can rotate the carb a bit.
3) Remove the bowl plug (little if any fuel will leak out)
4) Swap the main, done deal.

Get the tool, its like $4...
