Ignitions S/H and others

So being AJ is onboard to give some input, I'd like to put this out there for all to comment on. IMO the current S/H ingition was designed around the idea of making a unit that would produce trackable somewhat tamer power for MX use.

IMO and lets get lots of input, I would like to see a unit gear toward maximum power with a flywheel of the exact same weight/ spec as the OEM unit and just have the ability to bolt on extra weight for trail riding. Maybe also a up grade unit with a on the fly switch for dual curve to switch from trackable to all out power.

Is that something SH could look at selling in the Future? because that is something that would intrest me.

I always thought it was odd that the new S/H digital unit didnt have more that one map.... switchable on the fly as you noted.

1 map for slimy snot

1 map for OEM

1 map for wfo, dune style.

Maybe this will be in the S/H Gen 2 ignition?

I have looked into this in the past and from what I found you make a programmable set up and do it your self on your lap top,

The most powerful setup I could find at the time was by MSD and FTZ was using it for their midget cars, they did not make for a 500 it was for a 250 but could be modified with little problem.

It was battery operated but that is not a problem you just make a simple charging system.

Actually I interpreted AJ's comment elsewhere to mean that the primary objective was the power of the lighting circuit, the resulting larger flywheel smoothed out the power, and then the digital ignition map was very similar to stock.

IMO you only need 3 maps and a decent charge circuit (150w+)

1. For slow ST trail riding where traction is an issue
2. Bone stock
3. All out screamer

If at all possible I would keep the flywheel weight the same as stock or lighter with the ability to add weights if wanted.

With a switch on the bars that would be an awsome setup.

I've got an '88cr250 ignition on mine, so that MSD one would work for me...hhhmmmm.....

I'm lost....
What does the SH ignition have anything to do with the Aluminum bikes??
And what was wrong with your 2002 build ??

if you have do not know these bikes are ridid as hell. the design has no flex at the head stay.

812 made a post in another thread about the way the aluma tubs suffer in some ways because how rigid they are and agent 812 did not respond back so I am hounding him here to explain how talented he his on a motard!

The idiot in the avatar has a bigger mouth than me, and I did not think that was possible.
