Has anyone put a larger IMS tank on their AF conversion. I need a larger tank for my CRF250X-based bike. Should I assume the bottom will need to be relieved etc....

from what i have seen, the oversize tanks on the motor side are the same as stock. so you will have to modify it just as much as a stock tank.
also the mid size IMS tank is the same size as the stock X tank. the 4 gal is just fuckin huge. if i were to by a over size tank for my CRF250R based conversion, id use an Acerbis (2.9gal) or a Clarke (3.0gal), both of which are cheaper than the IMS. BTW, if you order a Clarke, order it BEFORE march 1st, the price is going up to $210 from $180 on the 1st.

So what is required to modify the tank? Can you use a heat gun and massage it to fit?

yep, if you look at the tank, there is a step to the lowest part of the tank. preaty much, that needs to be taken out. here is a pic of the stock R tank from mine. i didn't have a heat gun and messed it up. it would be better to use a heat gun.

Just for the record...I just put the 3.1 IMS on my Gen3 250 without ANY mods.
