yes. You can only provide a rigid hold of the head in the vertical plane of you have a three bolt pattern. Triangulation is the key to stiffness and strength. There is also considerable stiffness offered transversely (left to right as you sit on the bike) with the additional mass and clamping force that a triangulated brace gives you. if you go with a simple link (one bolt to another bolt) it will allow far too much movement through vibration and the link will ultimately fail....plus, the bike will shake like nobody's business!

I have spoken to WRX...but to the rest: I have five gen one kits left which I don't want to split up, two sets of covers one of each script style, and five ignition covers beyond that. My machinist has several sets of engine mounts, gen one and gen three head stays and probably some other stuff like coil mounts, etc.

He will need to get the price list and some application info from me, but he is the keeper of the hardware. Be forwarned: I never, ever marked up his prices to me...so you can expect the prices of the parts to be the same or even a little more from him....he won't be selling parts and shipping them at a loss.

if anyone is still using these front engine mounts or ones like them. I have found a Honda Part number for the 10x160mm bolt if you would like to stay with stock metric stuff.

I hope he is leaving the cylinder head side of the Head-Stay undrilled.
The plan was to offer these undrilled, so you would install the engine and bolt one side on, back drill through the head lug, then bolt the second Head-Stay on and then drill forwards through everything for perfect alignment.
This would counter any small deviations, from frame to frame.

Its a different piece... The ones Shan offered up for CRackers Gen 3 fit perfect. Shan should have the measurements stored somewhere...Hillbilly500 wrote: What are the differences for the head stay for the gen3 vs 1??
Again, these should be offered with the head side undrilled.
Both the Gen 1 and Gen 3 conversions reuse the OEM lower mounting tabs, so the motor position should be repeatable, but its not.

I always cut the headstay block off the frame use 12mm or 1/2 flat plate for a double sided mount then weld the block back on after lining up the carb airboot & sprockets.. .. That headstay has a lot of weight pushing on it at full noise especially in motard with nearly zero wheelspin.. No flex in the headstay means no flex in the cradle & no cracks at the Y.. But I've only been welding & fabricating with aluminuim for a living for 15 years.. So maybe I'm wrong..
Horible noise & shredded metal inside the crank case.. Time to visit the doctor...
