You would be better off powder coating it... Its way more durable...

Ok I have painted many a swingarm and the best way, short of powdercoating is to: Make sure it is absolutley clean I mean no oil or grease, then use one of those cheap foam sanding blocks to roughen the surface, then wipe completly down with rubbing alcohol, paint using good brand of rustoleum or equivilant. use small thin coats let cure for at least 2 days before touching. remember it will chip so get some of that clear decal meterial used to protect your tank, available anywhere sticker kits are sold. cover the swingarm with that stuff and it will last a long long time without scratches. short of landing it on a rock.
