Light and 45w coil

I bought a headlight and 45w coil from someone on the other site a few months back and never installed it as it was white and horrible looking, today I hit it with some krylon fusion black and installed the coil on the AF.

It took a lot of hacking at the light part to get it to look halfway decent, the part above the light was at least 4" over the bar pad sticking up :( , a grinder took care of that

So far im happy, I haven't ridden anywhere but it seems to do the job, it does definatly go to 1 candle power at idle but gets really bright when revved, I already blew the low beam filament just revving it in the back yard

I was hoping for something that would let me cruise over to the hills at night and I think Ive done it, I dont think it will be too much fun when at the top of comp you get off the gas and it all goes dark

Im gonna velcro a little red LED to the rear fender and I'll be all legal

For $40 shipped im a happy camper.

LED's are DC, your current set up is AC.

If you get a rectificer and a battery, you can even out the voltage surges in your headlight and run your LED tail light..or just use the rectificier alone.

I was just gonna find a cheapo battery LED mini flashlight to velcro on the back, or even a glowstick

I'll see how it goes but Im pretty sure its gonna need a regulator, it gets really bright when over revved.

Here is the coil I got, it is 45w not 35w so I edited the title

And here are the instructions for fitting (really handy after I already installed it  )

I just got off the phone with them and ordered the RG-20 voltage regulator from them, it was $19.99 and came to $29.99 with tax and shipped. It will save headaches in blown bulbs.

yep ya need the regulator to keep peak voltage at 12.5 . BTW if you shoe horn a 35 watt H3 PIAA extreme bulb in there you get way better light.

DO IT! PIAAs kick ass. Hoofarted put a set in old uncle jessie (the '85 f-150 that was rusty and could not be killed) and I used to ride right up on people without even the brights on and get them pulling off the road!

This looks like the economy setup I will try this summer. Let us know what you find for the tail light, you going to put a switch on the brake?
