G'Day, Not Another Bloody Aussie

Post by MalW »

I am getting on a bit and recently had an opportunity to pick up a couple of 1990 CR500's
I could not help myself as I raced an 1984 CR500 that i bought new for $2650 I ended up selling that around 5 years later to by a KX60 for the junior.

One is in good nick but has a cracked RHS Cluch cover at the kicker, I had a new one come with the bike, I gave this one to my young fella to sort out.
The other is missing the rear subframe and plastics pretty rough so this motor is going into a 2008 CRF 450 frame.
As a qualified and experienced welding specialist I will be doing the conversion, cutting and welding myself, i could not let anyone else touch it.

I will be on the hunt for any tips and tricks, good parts & knowledge so any assistance or information would be much appreciated.
Cheers Guys

Welcome MalW, lots of good info in the conversion section, then any specific questions can be answered by the experts.
the broken case from the kicker is somewhat common on these, never broke one myself.
start a tread of your work, maybe it will help out the next guy.
Gen 2 AF, yes it's a SH, so I can call it an AF Damm it!
