Need a new tank

Post by tadiv »

I need to get a new gas tank ordered tonight (need it by the weekend)!

I have all new black plastic, so I think I am going to go with a black tank (clear would be great to see the fuel, but all black looks great!). Are there any recommendations on a larger 3.5 or 4 gallon tank? I don't want it to be so big it gets in the way or fits poorly. The 4 gallon looks a bit large so I was leaning towards a 3.5.

Really fitment and ergonomics are the big concerns.

Also a good place to buy woould help, looks like motosport only has stock sizes in black, not oversized ones ready to ship, got my plastic there.

Not yet, was going to call after work (I am in the Eastern time zone, so that gives me a little buffer to do it after work my time before they close out west).

Wanted to check if anyone had any fitment, ergo issues with the larger size first.

And it is for a '94

A little tip on ordering from Clark.

If you need it by this weekend Good luck. They are in oregon. If they do not have the tank on the shelf it takes them 1 - 2 days to MAKE it and then another 3-5 to ship it from oregon down to cali unless you want to pay for expedited shipping. IMS will be your best bet since they are in CALI.

I ran a big IMS on my 2000 and it fit quite nicely, it definatly made the bike feel bigger tho.

I am in Indiana, when I get stuff from motosport.com (Oregon) they ship it 2 day on orders of $100 or more (wish they had the 3.5 gallon in black, just can't get myself to put a clear tank on an all black bike!)

I CARE!!! :D

In one of my past life's I was a jeweler/designer, so you can imagine the amount of detail/color scheme/design I am putting into this thing!

This is the bike so far.

And I am getting these graphics, So I am not sure if the clear tank would fit the style.

Anyone ever dye a tank (or any plastic)? I would paint it just to get it black for now and get a new one in a month or so, but I am afraid the paint will bubble with the gas vapors.

Ya I have also done R/C stuff, might need a cheap trash can to make it big enough to hold a gas tank!

I was also thinking of the dye in a spray can they make for auto carpet and seats.

ive been looking for that stuff locally and can't find it. i have one seat belt that is blue on my brown seat in the back of my 83 k20. but i think that stuff only works on a farbic type material.

i was thinking a 5 gallon bucket might work for a stock tank if you were to try the RIT dye.
