strange fueling issue

Post by ddewey78 »

So I was riding over Thanksgiving and one day my bike was running great, the next it started winding up, as if the fuel was shut off, but it wasn't. If I pulled the choke on, it would idle back down. Any thoughts where to start looking?

FYI it is a 97 motor with a pwk carb.

Sounds like a classic air leak.
I'd start with a thorough inspection of the carb and the carb boot.
From there I would do leak down test.
When is the last time the engine was rebuilt?

it had a top end put in it last year, maybe 12-15 hours on it. I havent even unloaded it out of the trailer yet, but when i do, i will start with looking at the carb and boot, thanks

Ok, If the carb and boot checks out ok, you might want to toss in some crank seals.
It certainly can't hurt :D
