Magnesium in radiators?

Post by Tharrell »

So, does anyone have any experience with getting magnesium out of radiators for the '85?
They're perfect otherwise and I'd prefer to keep it stock if possible.

find a shop that can do ultrasonic cleaning, that should do it.

Bit late now but I had the same issue with my '87 radiators being full of magnesium after the water pump / clutch housing imploded.
I jammed a potato in the bottom radiator outlet filled it up with coca cola and left them soak for 3 days.
Flushed out with the hose and you have nice clean radiator tubes :D
Keep it real, Keep it steel.

Plain old white vinegar works fantastic.
Plug up the ends and let it soak.
You can also use it to loosen up
the gunk that is in water pump area.
Be careful with the mag covers as it
will eat the mag. Doesn't hurt aluminum.
