'87 CR500R Swing arm shaft

Post by jbird_710 »

Looking for a usable '87 CR500 swing arm shaft/bolt (whatever you want to call it). I'm going to have to cut out the one in my bike. Have tried penetrating oil, heat, 12 ton press, hammering - it's moved 1/8 of an inch and will go no further or back. Tried responding to 87CR500Rider's ad for his parts but get no response. Part is no longer available from Honda.

tap the bolt with a 1/2-13 tap and rig a pipe, allthread to pull the bolt out. Once you get the bolt tight hit the other end with a drift and hammer afew licks and then retighten the puller bolt and repeat repeat repeat. It'll come out sooner or later.

Yeah, essentially did the same thing with a 12 ton press and it won't move. Found another bolt and should have it next week.

preloading and impact like cr500man said will do wonders, might be worth a shot rather than screwing something else up using a hack saw
