Just took my barrel into the machinist to get her cleaned up for a new top end and he spotted this.. Any idea what these little milled slots are just above the exhaust ports? I have not seen them on my other 2 strokes before... bike is a 91 CR500.
Cheers

Decompression scallops to ease starting . . . standard on all CR5's, and most other non power-valve big-bore 2 strokes. Is that your barrel up at 360 S&C ? if so, dood, that needs some attention from a hone !

Hi mate
You might want to get them to chamfer the edges of the ports and to relieve the exhaust bridge while they are working on it.
Refer to the Honda cr500 manual.
If they don't... El Seizo
