What is the reason for the sheaths on the crank halves on the cr500

Pack out and reduce the crank case volume, in order to "pressurise" the fuel/air charge, and really force it up the transfer ports as the piston descends.
I tried my Maico 490 without crank packing (God knows why !) in the 80's, and I reckon my next door neighbors kids moped could have given it a run for it's money in a drag race . . . . gutless plus !

No worries mate . . . .Missus all good ? Your cousin's crank is in good hands as of today . . . . . It was nice to catch up with you and your kids on the weekend, and I'll catch you in August next year, if not before, bro.

so is this tin coating replaceable if I had a genuine crank let go and for the record the crank we had shit itself is a hotrods piece of junk and is destined for the scrap bin
