Need help(: destroyed 4 fuel tanks trying to mod

I have destroyed 4 tanks now and don't know where to turn. Conversion is 98' Cr500 engine and 04'crf 250 chassis. I've destroyed a stock tank,X,acerabis,and a IMS. Anyone have an oversize tank already modded they are willing to part with? Or anyone willing to help me mod a tank? I'm in Phx,Az. If not i guess I'll have to fab an aluminum one up. Not a plastic guy obviously, just going to take quite a few hrs to fab an aluminum one. Thx hoons

We are in the process of growing our inventory of modded OEM tanks for the conversions. We haven't had the opportunity to mod the desert tanks yet. We can see what the demand is for modded desert tanks and if there is a big enough demand then we could look into adding those to our inventory.

I was pretty apprehensive about modding my tank too, but I finally just went ahead and did it. Mine was an 04 450 tank, and I only had one heat gun. I just worked it around in a circle on the area I wanted moved, and it was easy. I did it once, tried the fit and needed a little more. Two attempts and done. I had compressed air right there next to the tank to cool it off ASAP when I was done moving it as well.
Way easier than I thought it would be. Don't use to much heat in one area would be the key. Move the gun in a circle around the whole area.

2004 CR125 frame. Has the stock tank.
An stock oversize tank should fit as well? Has anyone tried oversize on the 125?

The trick is like a spray paint can.

Hold the gun 12" or more away, low heat. Paints runs and the heat gun will punch a hole in the tank.

In my case I got a bit luckier. Being a semi trans parent tank the plastic started to turn clear as it was ready to mold.

A big socket works well.

I ask because that is coming up on my list and I certainly do not want to destroy the tank.

Wear gloves.
Heat slowly, pre heat the whole tank if you can with boiling water or a large space heater.
Heat a larger area than you think you need to.
It works better to slowly move a large area than to quicky move a small area.
Use blunt objects to shape, no sharp tools.
I used a baseball bat, large rubber mallet, my fist in a glove.
Take your time, heat, massage, heat, massage....

If you are converting a 2005-2008 CRF450R, the fuel tank clears the spark plug as long as you reverse the fuel fitting on the bottom of the tank (fuel line points to rear). I tried both the 450R and a 450X fuel tank and it clears both.
