Hey guys,

So things having been slowing down recently at F*** Motor Company for the holiday season and I've had a bit of free time to surf the web... I came across a deal that I could not refuse; it is a Gen 5 2012 CRF250X rolling chassis with only 3.1 miles on the bike!!! The bike was purchased by a Michigan University with the motor going into a SAE project.

Build plans:

Obviously a CR500 transplant
Would like to go FI but not sure the bank account agrees at this point in time... :(
If i stick to the carburetor, I will definitely go for the digital ignition upgrade like my previous GEN 2.
I have a baja design light kit from my previous 1995 CR500 donor chassis so I would like to utilize that being it is the X chassis aka headlamp.
Other than that I plan to keep the bike looking stock at this point in time as it is a brand new chassis so don't really see the need to throw all the goodies at it just yet...

As for the a CR500 donor I am in the market if anyone has any leads??

Funny, I was looking on Kijiji a couple hours ago and saw that bike, they probably didn't removed it yet!! How much did you pay (if you don't mind telling).

Roosty has complete motors, in stock.

Nah I did post the bike on Kijiji just to see what the interest was... Everything is forsale for the right price, but just like I thought a bunch of tire kickers... :argue:

Thanks Bob. Do you have the contact info for Roosty's?

I do have some nice motor packages in stock. Everything from bone stock to fully ported. Pulse injection systems, programable ignitions, nikasil lined cylinders, decompressors, likely anything you're interested in.
Send me a PM or call me at the shop during the day 2o4325985three

I've ridden a couple of motors that Roosty breathed on hard. Trust me, if you want a rocketship, he is the man. With an MX track in his front yard too. How freakin cool is THAT?! Lol

Spoke to Roosty today, really nice knowledgeable guy... Going to pursue a complete CR500 that I stumbled across and hopefully (upon purchase) sell the rest of the donor chassis so I am not out a huge amount of $$$. But I will be picking Roosty's brain in the near future for the 250 clutch/shifter upgrade.... :devious:

Thanks again for the lead Bob! :headbang:

No one here has likely bought from him.
He lifted the parts design from parts he bought off Paul Stoffers (pstoffers).
I'd buy em from Paul

Thanks Roosty, just seeing what the options are right now. You have any nikasil coated 500 cylinders kickin' around up there?

Also (as you are probably are aware) of this PDF on Eric Gorr's website: http://www.eric-gorr.com/incl/pdfs/mode ... ondaCR.pdf. More specifically about using epoxy to change the angle of the transfer ports that are directed at the exhaust port? Do you implement this in your engine over hauls?

Picked up the donor bike today :D

Will follow up with fitment feedback!

Anyone running this tank for the CRF250 conversions? Apparently will fit without heating/reforming of the tank. Reading that the shroud bolt location on the tank are a bit off and the petcock is abnormally large

If so will the OEM Petock fit this tank?

it'll fit better. the bottom is flatter, it holds a bit less fuel, we still added 1/4" spacer under the front tank mount to give more plug room even on the shorty.

Thanks roosty... Wish these guys would make an over-sized tank! Is my memory bad or does the oem tank not have a top mount that is molded into the tank? Is the picture shown on the website just a general picture or does it come with the mount? Or maybe lack of sleep has gone to my head haha

Does this tank still require the heat treatment thou Bob?

by AlisoBob
Yea.... but:

1. Its easy to mod

http://bannedcr500riders.com/board/viewtopic.php?t=7918

2. It fits really well

3. It holds a decent amount of gas

4. Its the right way to do it

i wouldnt touch one of the chinese tanks they are crap smaller shroud bolts finish is average and it holds less fuel. yours is a x so you have a larger tank than a r anyway mod your original

ok, ok... I can take a hint lol. If I am spending that kind of cash on a tank (would like to get a black tank) I will probably send it your way for the mod if that is cool with you Bob?

Have to say overall very impressed with the kit and the instructions are a nice aid! Definitely recommend this kit if you have the $$$. It ended up costing $383 with everything including the air box adapter, little on the expensive side for my tastes but you get what you pay for! Wish I could weld this up this weekend, but unfortunately heading north for the holidays to do some sledding :( ...

Found someone willing to take the CR500 rolling chassis off of my hands for $500 and another guy that wants the 18" rim for $100. :woot:

Started working on the adapter plate tonight for the air box. It is from Dzitting's kit, but had to be modified slightly for the 2012 airbox

Also I have been reading options on how to go about lighting on this bike... more so trying to achieve lights and the digital ignition. I have been reading that the e-line kits are pretty popular and seem to fetch a good chunk on ebay. So my question is what is this worth?

Seen them fetch upwards of $700 on Ebay, and average condition one go for $550. I have a digital ignition with lighting coils and full wiring harness etc that you can have . . . . fuck'n Service Honda crap ! It all works, but the bike is SO hard to start with it on. I now run standard ignition, and all the lights, and road legal crap, turn-signals, brake lights tail lights, dipping headlight etc off a 25W Ricky stator charging a 5Ah battery . . . . works a treat with all LED stuff . . . even a BD Squadron 3600 Lumen headlight that lights up the night awesome ! Takes about 7 hours solid use for the demand to outstrip the charge and flatten the battery.

I think when they show in the states it's more on the lines of $400-450
but as few of them as there seem to be I could see it going for $800 here is a couple people wanted one bad enough.

Nice job on the airbox plate mod. That is different than I do it. I either eliminate the hinge and just make the door screw on, or I cut out the plastic hinge portion and epoxy it into the airbox, then trim out the aluminum to fit around the hinge. Does your airbox door still open? It seems like the aluminum would be in the way.
