I rebuild my motor and at the same time bored my Pj 1mm larger, with a 55 pilot it did not idle so i installed a 48. Still a bitch to kick start and wont idle, but feels much better. When i pull start it the wheel only needs to make a slight movement before it fires up, moved the brass out but still no idle Would a 42 pilot be to small (at the coast) and is this because of the bore increase?
I read all the jetting threads and know the symptoms mean a smaller jet, but could it be that small on a PJ?

I may be wrong on this, but on the PJ there is a separate circuit for the idle when the slide is closed, you might check to see if your slide is hanging open a bit or leaking around the sides, this could then cause a weak signal through the circuit.
My bike always needs me to find that sweet spot with the throttle to start anyway, maybe with your changes you just need to change your starting techniques

The slide closed at the bottom and on the sides there is plenty grove left, I think its the bore increase that might be why the PWK also like a 42 pilot. Thanks for the help.

No, the PWK is a completely different carb than the PJ. Bore simalarity has nothing to do with it

It was bored center, did I muck it up? I know the pwk is the way, but I am low on cash for now and will only go that way in 3 months.

Most people offset bore the carbs so not to disturb the bottom of the throat !!! you may have opened it up just enough to disturb the idle circuit ????
You could try and turn the idle adjust nob all the way down to shut off the passage then play with the mixture screw and see what happens??????
