Met Ryan Cepek in the pits and we hung out and then did the Unclassified practice/race. They changed the track from the photo above, cutting out the 1st long straight which sucked because the 500 can pull everyone in a flat out drag race. Everyone got jammed up at the short hill climb which didn't bode well for the race. Very dusty and I got spooked on the fire road and slid out avoiding a trip over the edge. That was crash #1....

1st lap: Didn't kick the 500 hard enough on the start line for the 50+ race and therefore got away dead last. Lost some more time using some imagination to get around a big jam at the water crossing. Riding real rusty...

2nd lap: (#190 in video) I caught up to the 40+ class that went ahead of us everything was going smoothly. Coming down the street section in 5th, I braked, down-shifted and turned onto the dirt section and then we are picking ourselves up going WTF happened? Crash #2. Took a long time to work out what day of the week it was, but got back on...

3rd lap: Now the front of the bike is wandering all over the shop, and later I found out I had a front flat. Lost the front-end again on the face of a big step-up and it's Crash #3. This is getting old real fast. Get back on. Catch some guy in the last 2 mile sand section and we really go at it. Suddenly all the enthusiasm is back and I take his line and get past. Knock out the last riverbed section and we are done.

Go home lick wounds, and listen to wife tell how much safer golf is. Two weeks to heal up before Day in the Dirt at Glen Helen.

It's a feature of YouTube. When I uploaded the video, YouTube said "you got a shaky video! want it fixed?". This is the result. Pretty cool.
