Paint it silver with brake caliper paint

Looks good. Lots of work to get that shit polished. I would personally Powdercoat clear them to preserve the polish. But even then, polished shit is really only good for a dunes bike.

i am powder coating them when im done but why is polished stuff for dunes ?

this is going to be a 65% on road 35% off road bike but its going to be set up for off road not on road

the frame,swing arm,forks,tripple clamps,rims hubs,levers,kick, start,bars,sprockets.............. and bolts are going to be polished and cleard with eastwood super high gloss clear powder

Dune bikes stay upright and when they do go down the sand doesn't hurt them much. Full on dirtbikes get pulverized. Mine has dented frame under the skid plate and I am on about my 5th frame or something. I have 7 pipes that get rotated through the bike and all look like a piece of used tin foil you straightened out to wrap your kids lunch up in. I have cracked 4 clutch covers and they all get boot polished which doesn't look good. Basically the bike looks like I drag it behind the truck to the riding spot. My motor has old mud burnt into the finish along with a red dirt coolant paste. They have rock and sand blasting scratches and marks top to bottom. It's just how it is and I am an old man taking it easy compared to our resident Service Honda thrasher 2strokeforever.

I think your polished motor looks great and I vote with all the work you leave it like that but if you plan to ride the thing much off road be prepared to continue polishing daily or have a very disappointing existance.

i don't but i can powder coat everthing so i don't have to.

i have only droped my 500 once and it was on ice with no studds at a dead stop and i held the bike up when i fell

i do not ride hard or do anything to cause the bike to get damaged

its 3rd gear roads putting or 1st gear tight trails and 5th gear open trails and sometimes 5th gear wot on roads when i don't have a plate lol

I voted sandblasted because :

- polished is too bling bling (although the job is amazing)

- Powder Coated makes me think that the dents and scratches could ruin the nice look pretty quickly

- If I was you I'd make it sandblast with glass microballs (sorry for my english, I don't know the exact name other than in french)

if i were going to do anything id get some of that teflon non stick coating (i think its grey) so it dosent cost $5 at the car wash everytime i want to clean the engine

2strokes that is a great idea, like the American Racing wheels that are coated for mud to not stick.... Wonder where you can get that done....

dirt would stick to a blasted finish really bad.

raw aluminum doesnt react well to dirt. it dulls up fast in a dirty environment, the sand doesnt really stick to the bike like mud/dirt does.

expect the clear to dull the polished look a little, but it shouldnt be too bad.

after all that work, I definitely wouldnt spray it black....
