I'v got a '98 cr250 ignition coming for the '01.
Got everything but the 250 coil.
Whats the story with using the 500 coil?
Be ok or not?

Any thoughts where to set timing to?
lots of people grind out 10mm advance.
Whats your best setting?
cheers

im running the 99 setup, with the 500 coil, works fine, you will need to make a adaptor from flat to a pin connector to plug it in
do not use as projected nose plug, or a non resistor plug, it wont work

i run as advanced as i can WITHOUT grinding, it rips, i wouldnt advance more cause it kicks back a sometimes, it runs decent in the stock spot but a little slow off the bottom, and hard to make run clean, seems to riun hotter too

i run premium fuel and havent had any issues with pinging, not sure whats done to the head but i think its higher comp than stock?

also take the honda plug cap off, smash it with a hammer, then throw it as far as you can.... then replace with one that dosent have 27k resistance
cant hurt to replace the wire with resistance free wire either

I just put a 98 250 ignition on.
Installed it straight up, and seems to run good.
Haven't tried advancing it at all yet.

i ran it at the stock setting for a while, and it was decent but advanced it seems to run cleaner and cooler
its been WFO in a gravel pit for over a minute (advanced) and hasnt burnt a piston so it must be ok
