Hi,
Im new here and just bought a 89 roller, in pretty good shape and a 88 with a motor, in ruff shape. Going to do a complete restore on the 89 and planed on using the motor from the 88. I know they are two different bikes, but wondering what problems I am going to run into. I read somewhere I will have to machine the swingarm bushings out to 17mm or something. I looked at the parts swap thread here but all I get is red x's Man that would really come in handy about now too
Thanks in advance,
Jim

photo links worked for me thismorning.
at the bottom of every post i make is a link to the folder hosting those pics.
yes the bushings are different I.d and O.d. you can have them bored, thats kinda hokey, they get super thin. make some new steel ones that wont be as brittle or machine the cases for the larger bushing.

For the rear bushing on my 1985 I drilled out the cases and used swing arm bushings, each cut to 1/2 correct length and used two washers outside - works perfect and took about 45 minutes total.
