So Ive got and 86 motor in my 06 CRF and Im putting the newer R side case and cover on it. The cover to get my water pump outlets to not share the same space as my pipe, and the R case because its cracked right at the kickstart support and my dealer says the 86 case is discontued. Heres the questions I have. I searched on the site for a while and I cant find any definitive answers. Will I run into any issues using my 86 cylinder with the newer case? Or any issues with the 89+ R case and 86 L case half? I was thinking about upgrading to the 89+ cylinder again just for ease of coolant hose routing, is that doable? Thanks in advance guys. All I wanna do is ride this thing. Ive only been on it twice after I finished the conversion.

The 85-86 cases have a deck height 5mm shorter than 87-01s.

Ok, thats what I was afraid of. So my only options are to buy both new cases or find a used 86 R side then. I really wish I had waited and found a better donor bike. This one is nickel and diming me to death. At least it will be all new when Im done.

So if i run the newer cases would I be better off using the newer cylinder too?

you could find used cases, i do have a very nice bare set i'd sell
