135 on sand.............................................
with drag and slip factor that would put you at like over 150 mph on pavement.
dude ever watch that superbike show with the black guy the does stunts, at the salt flats he went 135 mph on a GSXR 750 pinned for miles.

MFDB has some trans prob. recently, look for his post, that should put you in the right direction. bent shiftforks are fairly common in 500 trans probls, usually caused by work dogs.

yeah, it is a little far fetched, but last weekend, I was pinned in 5th on 14/47 gearing trying to catch up to those maniacs called Lewisclan!
I was launching off tracks left by rails, it was crazy and I even remember telling myself "dude, you are going waaaayyyy too fast"

of coarse, that was probably 75mph and just plain scary. LOL

Pinned in top with 15/51 gearing is flat scarey in deep sand and thats probably only around 80 or so.

You dont run high speeds by being
mild
The shit these guys do to bomb their bikes to be able to pull these speeds is way beyond anything I have ever read in any post on any CR500 site in the past 5 yrs
Theres my dose of fuel for the fire

got a light?
No wonder I dont post fuck all.................

you forgot the whole debate here...SAND
I don't doubt that people could do that fast on hardpack, or street, but in deep sand thats another story.

I was commenting on the BS comment. I don't know if its relating to the region, but around here when you say sand, thats refering to the dunes. We do drag in the dunes too, usually maxing out at about 50-60mph. Are you talking about dry lakebed type terrain?

Well I don't know how this got started aside from some BS mph.
However I do know I've hit close to 85 at the Glamis sand drags. How I figure that is there is site to plug in gear ratios and final drive ratio times rpm. Stock gearing of 14/49 comes to 89.6 mpg. knowing I was pinned until the power flated out, I call it 85. Say whatever, I don't care.

85 is a hell of a lot more believeable than 135
