The forks from my 04 450 fit right into the triples on my 99.
If memory serves either the upper or lower is a couple thou too
small. No problem just spread a little more with the screwdriver
to slide it in. Also the forks were slightly further apart so there
is less axle sticking out on the pinch side. Again not a problem.
However, you cant do this swap. I was told so. By some douchebag
on VitalMX. Said you cant put "new" technology suspension on
"old" technology motorcycles. It wont work, and messes up the
bike. After I claimed that it improved my 99
by leaps and bounds, told me that it wasnt possible and I was
full of shit. Even though he never rode it. So you better not do it.

I did it, it all lines up well. the 97 triples are a bit wider than the 06 crf 250. hince the 97 forks wont go in 06 clamps...but it has tightened up nicely. there is still a little gap on bottom clamp and nuts are tight! cant wait to ride it and see if it really helps...will the rear shock fit...lol..JK

Actually I think I checked the rear shock difference. One is longer
than the other maybe the 04 is the shorter of the two. I think
maybe pivot bolt sizes were different too. Altho that could be fixed
easily enough. If memory serves I believe a guy on here ran into the
same problem as you and he cut up Monster cans as shims.
BLASPHEMY!!! I'd use beer cans. Likely 1 wrap is all you need
take up a couple thou and youre in BI.......ness! Good luck let

The front suspension off the 06 makes all diff in the world! It will be a nice hold me over til i get the AF frame moded
