Well, time is booked for dynotuning and testing on Saturday! Very intresting! We will try different needles and jets in the PWK. We will also try both the ProCircuit system that is on my bike at the moment, and also the Dynoport system that i have laying here. I will run it with my SuperMoto wheels to get correct reading. maybe we play with ignition too.
Should be intresting to get it on paper and not any fantasy numbers=)!

ignition can make a HUGE difference on a cr500. with all of my porting, exhaust and carb work the biggest difference was when I went with w cr250 cdi after everything else was done.

Hello Danny! So, did you just change the CDI module or the whole ignition system? From which model did you take it? Was it a straight swap or did you modify anything?

that particular bike had an '86 motor and the 86 ignition was unique to the '86 500, '86-'88 250 and '86-'89 125. for that oneI just installed a '87 cr250 stator. for newer model bikes, most people have been installing the entire cr250 ignition which includes a lighter and smaller flywheel. the later digital ignitions require modification to the stator plate to fit. the mid '90s cr2500 ignitions seems to be the eaziest bolt on, but are less agressive than the '80s 250 curves.

Ok! yes, i've read that there's a lot of ignition changes! Is there any benefit from using a CDI box from a 250 model, and in that case, which one would fit? My thought was to just change the CDI before the dynorun as i don't have time to change the whole setup. Thanks for your fast reply.

I can't remember for sure, so you'll want to look it up, but I believe the '89-'96 CDIs will work with the cr500 elecronics, but there was some change in '93 I think, so maybe its the '89-'92 or the '93-'96, I can't remember.
