Gen 1 conversion options?

So the plan is to get a gen 1 cr250 ride it for awhile (Ive had the bug for a light MXer for awhile) then swap the motor out of the 500 into the 250. All the write-ups and shan's drawings make it look to easy but i have a couple questions. Will my 89 motor work fine in the gen 1 frame with the drawings shan has? Can I use a Gen 1 cr125 frame just as easily?

Looking at my signature... maybe i have a 91.....now i got my self confused, ill have to double check when i get back from the stan.

I had two bikes at once, one got parted out and i ended up with one title....dont remember which was which now. Almost positive its a 89 though.

The 125 is a completly different beast to tackle..... stick with the two-fiddy...
Either year motor will work, once you figure out what you gots....
