Where can I get Flash Red paint?

Can anyone direct me as to where to purchase the Flash Red paint for restoring my '84 and '85 500s? I have tried the local paint stores and they are about useless. I read that Colorite had it as R119 on their webpage but it isn't listed on there any more. My frames are blasted and primered ready for some paint but I am striking out every where I turn.

I just bought a pint of the Flash Red paint at my local automotive paint place. Here is the website

I used PPG and they pulled up the mix ratio for the Honda Flash Red right in the computer and mixed it up. You will need the paint, hardener and reducer which ran me about $100.00. Just be aware that its not base coat / clear coat and I left it about a week to dry. Even after that if your not really careful it will chip easily when installing the engine and accessories if you don't tape off the frame.

Looking back I think I would have rather found a good powder coater that could matched the color close and went that route for durability. The paint is great for a show bike that doesn't get ridden much but its nothing like the factory powder coating for durability.

I just want to give an update after having my frame painted. If you are building a show bike and never plan to ride it then MAYBE paint is the way to go. If you plan to actually ride it then do yourself a favor and do not waste your time or money on the paint. It was a totally wasted effort and my bike has so many chips in it after one ride I'm pretty much disgusted with the paint and feel like stripping it back down and having it powder coated. You literally can't clink a wrench against the paint without chipping the shit off and as far as tightening anything down against the painted surface... LOL!!!! It's almost F'n funny (NOT) as you watch the paint fall right off in front of your eyes. Every time I look at the bike there are paint flecks laying on the ground or on the engine case.

My advice is PAINT SUCKS!!! Powder coat that bitch and forget about it!!!!

Dogger how much powder do we need to do a frame and how much is it?

Yeh, the only time I paint a frame is if the owner insist or if the bike
will be a dust collector (show only).

You can powder coat the frame and subframe with less than a pound.
I sell the color matched powders (Tahitian Red, Flash Red, Fighting
Red and Shasta White), for $15 a pound plus shipping. I also have
the Satin Black and Honda Silver for engines.

Awesome, I'm going to get 2 pounds of the Flash Red off of you shortly because I'm eventually going to re-do the 84 frame (good waste of $100.00) and I have an 83 CR480 I'll be starting on next. There are 2 powder coaters here so I'll have to see if the cost is any less if I bring my own powder. They are both pretty good but to do a complete frame they want about $200

$215 to get a frame powdercoated the correct color seems to be a bargain.
I spent a lot of money on paint for my '85 and now wished I had gone the powdercoating route.

the prep work youself. Media blast with AO or Soda, wipe it down
with acetone, plug up threaded mounts with silicone plugs, tape
up the model plate and provide the powder. About 2 hours of labor.
A fair powder coater shouldn't charge more than $75 for coat and cure.

With that said, I agee with both of you that $200 - $215 is a decent
deal for all that's involved.

I should have been more clear. The $200 was including the media blasting, prep work and powder. I thought that was a fair price. I have to ask them what the difference would be if I supplied my own powder.
