Jones Motorsports, anyone heard of them?

I'm looking to buy a 2001 CR500 from a guy who bought the bike from Jones Motorsports (can't seem to find any info on the web on them). Apparently they used to be out of Orange County, CA.

Anyway, the bike has extensive motor work done and supposedly there was a dyno sheet that showed 86 hp. My main concern is what appears to be either epoxy or jb weld on the top of the reed cage and on the carb. Apparently its from so much material being hogged out. Is this common? Or should i be concerned of a hack job?

Thanks guys!

Roostius, there is a Jones Motorsports sticker on the side of the barrel. Not sure how it hasn't melted off. There is also something on there the guy is calling a power valve (not 100% on the name), where under WOT it draws fuel from the bottom of the bowl and injects it into the engine. It has quite a bit of compression, and made good power when i rode it down the street, but didn't feel like 30 hp over stock. Might be because i wasn't spinning the motor fast enuf. Overall a very clean bike, but don't want to buy someone else's experiment.

Sounds like it could be DeWayne Jones or his son. He is in Pomona, but close enough. Give him a call to find out, pm me for a number. He used to put these red and black Jones Racing stickers on the side of the jug, my old 125 had that sticker.

power jets are very common in heavily built applications, I wouldn't write it off because of that.

Sounds like Dewaynes...

It'd be "JJones Racing" - with a confederate flag-like sticker. That's Dewayne's son. And yes, thats a powerjet. Does it have extra capacity added to the fuel bowl?

Not sure, but it looked like the stock Kehin carb except that it had epoxy or jb weld on it, as well as the power jet. The bike is super clean and doesn't have much saddle time, i'm probably gonna pull the trigger and i will post up some pics once i get it home.
