I am biginning to think that the chest protector I have is more for roost deflection than rib saving. Those protectors seem to put the force on the thicker part of the rib so you dont get tons of leverage when you land on a rib tip. Mine covers my WHOLE chest and doesnt seem to redistribute any landing forces.

Nice looking gear! Wash it aster every ride or two, and the white will stay reasonably clean. But then again, you guys have mostly sand out there, over here its all mud, so its a little harder on the white areas of the cloth.

Ive worn a few different boots, I am pretty partial to my Tech 10's. I cant count how many times they have saved my feet/ankles/lower leg from certain destruction.

Right on Brit, You'll love the SG12's. How many times you'll shift and be in the same gear? Well until there broken in. But then riding tracks that happens more. YMMV.

I tried on the tech 10s and sidi crossfires and the SG12s were the best feeling.

I tried on the tech 10s and sidi crossfires and the SG12s were the best feeling.
The Gaerne was on my top 2 list.
I went with the Crossfire because I like the full ankle hinge, I hate breakin' in new boots.
I like the black, I use it too.
Bell Moto 8 was a $150 closeout.

btw-What about a neck brace? Best money you can spend in my opinion.

Brit the chest protector can be sized to fit you a bit better,

You have to pull out the screws that hold the chest and back to the shoulders and the pull the mounts down a bit and reinsert into the other sets of holes. It'll fit quite a bit better I think with doing this.

Now all you need is a leatt brace!

I went yesterday bob  The 6th.....

New helmet and brace are next on my list, I just had to get new boots as the sole on my tech 6s had given up the fight with the kicker....

Moved the front adjustments 2 holes (max) and the back ones one hole, now fits better, thanks GM :)

The only problem now is I just touched the screws so they'll probably fall out

They crossfires were good but not as comfy as the gaerne's, what killed them for me was it was almost impossible to get the fuckers off, I had to have the wifey help me lol

If they feel that good, they would be a distraction for me
Seriously though, both the Gaerne and Sidi boots are top quality and top level protection too.
The Gaerne has a "heel cup" to protect your ankle and a partial hinge to aid up/down movement. I'm sure they were pricey too. Sidi's are $500.
However, I bought so much at Rockymtn and gamed their point system that mine were about $350.

Here's where I got the helmet, a closeout.

http://www.thebellstore.com/Helmets/moto8.html

I have fallen several times during cross country races and general rides, don't ever feel anything.
I usually land on a knee first and roll. I bought some knee protection for around $75 that has a really neet hinge and uses velcro straps to secure. I'm wearing everything in the pic above and once you get to riding, you don't know you have most of it on.

Yeah, they are narrow for sure.
I got the 13 and it's tight when I first put them on but they feel good after a short walk around.
You tried some on?

Just so Brit doesn't feel like a minority, I have a "pouch" resting on the gas tank in the picture above.
But in truth, I've had a few more years to get that way!
I am working on it though, after getting back on a bike after 20 years I realized how out of shape I had gotten.
Anybody with me? I'm carrying around an extra 60 lbs.
