If that happens I will throw a 500 motor in it for sure, then maybe turn this build into a big bore 250. I've got a few frames laying around and I am going to pick up a CR250 motor when the right one comes along. I like riding the four stroke but I HATE the sound of it and I tend to throw a lot of tools when I have to work on the POS.......

I agree with you on the 4 stroke, I like riding it. Now that Im starting to get used to riding my 500, Its making me turn faster lap
times on my 450

Scored on Ebay last week. 20mm RG3 clamps in pretty good shape for 275 bucks. Ordered the rubber kit and I should be good to go....

Try that tank yet????? any pic's? I just bought the Acerbis tank on ebay for 199.94 and free shipping. When it gets here I will decide to try it myself or send it to Bob. I have 3 leaking stock tanks already.

Yes, it fits OK with plenty of room for plug change. I've never used Cycra plastic, this is the first time and it all lines up. The radiator braces fit a little funcky with that goofy air scoop. The tank was damaged ( fuel outlet tube) in shipping so they are sending me another one.

I bought the Acerbis Bob recommended. It should be here this week. Then I have to decide to mod it my self or send out to have it done. Your tank looks good. It would have been alot cheaper.

You're better off if it's not just a track bike. I would guess this tank holds just over a gallon so it would not be ideal for desert or trail set up.

Your build looks great!!!!!!!!! Yes mines just a trail bike so the bigger tank will be great.

Looks like I'm coming up about a half inch short at the airbox using an 01 CR 250 boot. Anyone know if any other years are a bit longer?

I had to use a reed spacer on my 450 to bring the whole assembly back enough to comfortably fit my bike. Would that give you enough, or is that trick already in use?

No reed spacer yet. Just a PWK and Boyesen RAD valve. Turns out what I have here is two 01 boots when I thought I had a 99 as well. Freakin Ebay pukes don't know what years they are selling. Gonna try a stock 500 boot like Bob used.

My thinking is that the 500 boot was made for the airflow demand of the 500cc engine. Some of the other boots look restrictive.
Mounting it to the airbox with a clear 1/2" thick lexan plate was easy-peasy and the thickness of the plate filled the gap perfectly.
It also wraps around the shock nicely on the Gen 4 CRF250 chassis.
It worked well for me.

Nice job Dude,if you do decide to mod the tank,I might suggest you try putting the tank in a press, then heat it while it's under pressure where needed.worked real good for me.
