Hey what's up I'm looking too make my wr street legal now I have lights tires and title down but I was told that these bikes have a niksil cylinder and I'm wondern how the motor would hold up to the every day commute that were planning to give it. The commute is 3mi in the city and 13mi on the highway one way so 32mi total a day I don't want to be havin to throw top ends on it all the time it runs 20:1 on 927 and is properly tuned just a hair on the rich side just a hair I have a nice dark golden brown plug just wanted a second opion thx

Is a WR going to be great on the freeway? NO.
Is the WR a great bike to commute on? NO.
Is your bike jetted rich? Yes
Will you have to put top ends often riding it down the highway everyday? Yes

Enduros are a compromise street or dirt and how much of each. Doesn't really matter because you are going to do whatever you are going to do and we will see you in a month or so with your WR top end nikosil questions. Have fun while it lasts.

One this bike isn't for me to ride 2 I asked if it's goin too last with a cylinder too that 3 it's not for fun it's a money saving deal he currently drives a armored suburban with a 454 in it that gets 8mpg I know it will do fine on the freeway current gearin is pretty tall I think it tops out around 90 so 65-70 shouldn't be a problem even of it is I can always go up a tooth on the counter shaft sprocket I'm just wondering if the in two months were goin to need a top end with just regular street riding and the only reason it's a hair rich is to make it last longer

Oh well then it will be fine just run it, 250 2 strokes love running down the freeway. Like I said your going to do what you are going to do.

20 to 1 on 927

927 is about $27 for a half gallon

at 20 to 1 that makes 10 gallons of fuel

Super unleaded in your area is probably about $3.50 per gallon and you will use about 1 gallon a day, add to that your $2.70 worth of 20 to 1 927 and you have a total of $6.20 worth of fuel per day.

Well currently unleaded is $3.23 we get 8mpg so I would be using 4gallons of fuel wich is roughly $13 a day in just fuel not to mention the tranny fluid that leaks so much cheaper do you think if we kept it off the freeway we'd have better luck that's what it sounds like you implying but just wanted to clarify

I think what everyone is trying to say is, no it is not a good idea.
it's going to get about 640 miles/month how often will it need a rebuild? who knows but won't last as long as a beated car.
if he wands a nice dual sport bike to hit the street between trails, sounds like a good idea, if it is to save money, buy a car that gets 30mpg.

All of this is exactly what I was implying, the 250 2 strokes love the freeway comment was just me being facetious.

I was also adding in the cost of the shit ton of oil you are burning to remind you that the cost of that oil is essentually cutting your mileage in half.

The bike would prefer to run a lot more dirt and not drive down the freeway. A beater car or a big enduro would be a better call for sure.
