I had a super stressfull day on the day I left... 3 hours behid schedule.
Got there after dark. While we were driving up, I was describing Rhino's bad ass International Power Wagon to my boy Jack... and as we pulled through the gate, Jack starts describing it back to me. I'm schocked he can describe it in such detail, until he says.. "Dad, look out your left window!" Rhino was right there, pullin in at the same time.
So we park and unload all our shit, B.S. some , Danny Graves shows up ,, B.S. some more and hit the sheets.
Friday morning was a great Hoon breakfast , and then its time to ride. I took the kids out for a little putt-putt up the beach for a while and then grabbed my bike for the dunes.
If you guys have followed my engine rebuild, then you know I got one of Adams ported jugs on there... and it like alot of gas. So I bumped up to a bigger main and moved the clip down a notch to prep for Pismo.
Friggin' thing had real good power ( spun my 10 paddle tire like it was bald) but rattled like a son-of'a-bitch at 3/4 throttle. Its got pump gas in it, but its supposed to be a pump gas motor. Roosty tols me he also has some rattle issues at 3/4 throttle too. As we figure it out , we'll let you know the fix.
Friday night was good eating, as usual.
Sat. was more kid stuff, and another dune ride for me. It was still pinging at 3/4 throttle which is where I ride the dunes at. At 1/2 throttle I cant keep up, and WFO is too fast for me. I decided to park it , and not break it while I figure this out.
I took my boy out on the quads. This was the first year he really went out there.... anf he had a blast ripping around the smaller bowls. I must be getting older as I think I had more fun watching him rip around the bowls, than I do riding them. Some guys were giving me the big "thumbs up" as they were watching him too.... I finally figured it out that Jack was on his sisters quad ( with Peace Signs and Flower Power stickers all over it ).... and they thought Jack was my daughter under all that riding gear... too funny.
Other H.F.B.T.S. highlights....
Matt ( Rhino). Dudes as cool as they come, and I got a real hoot watching is 45 year old International pull out all the stuck D-max's, Powerstrokes, and other assorted big iron... even mine. Thing is a blacksmith shop on wheels.
Meeting Bill ( Kuma). Guys got a nice S/H that looks like AJ did personally. Also brought a kick ass Honda Pilot sand car. Good conversations with you Bill. Let me know what you find with that alcohol carb.
Scott ( RedRider MV + his bro). I dont see nearly enough of Scott, great guy to hang with.
Dougie ( Zorak) came down for a day. Nice 450 A/F conversion! And he already planned the 2nd one.... nice.
Al Gava had his birthday party around the campfire....
Jays boy, Cam ,showed up again this year. This guy riders real well, is going to be a Doctor, plays guitar, and has a real sweet girl named Jen that he's going to marry one day. This the kind of guy I like having around camp to influence the little ones...... a good balance to having Brit around.
My boy trying to step into "Big" James Lewis's shoes as the Camp Slave. He's working on it James!!! He's filling tires, picking up trash, cookin' burgers, and doing all the stuff you did, for so long.
Graves and the family coming out.
Ritchie saving the weekend for the sand rail guys who lost the front "A" arms in a rough landing. A BFH and a little arc welder was all that was needed.
Food was great, as usual!!!
No Flood
I'm sure I'm forgetting lots of other stuff...
Lowlights?
My Bike pinging....
Matt and Brit crashing into each other..... (luckily no real damage.)
No John Ellett or Mike Stiles. this year...
No Camp Photo this year
The "Show You Tit's "sign was rudely taken away by Office Dickless Tracy.
One final thought.... Sabre and I didnt see things the same way Thursday night. I was really pissed when I got there... and Sabre had a few cocktails in him.... and one thing led to another.
While I was airing my tires up for the drive home, the camp wa pretty much cleared out. It was only then you could see how huge it really was, and how much area Sabre had to defend from poachers while we all trickled in over the course of a few days.
Rich, you did a great job getting the camp site, and I'm sorry for how things went down.
All in all, it was a great time!!!
Thanks guys.... You make it what it is.

Mayham,... if you want to call it that, was the popoff valve going while the wife and I were looking for a lock in the sand nearby. Were like WTF is that. Lots of white nitro billowing out of the front of Brits bike. No one else was around and no camera in hand. Bob says, "Thats what you great for trying to put 4 lbs in a 2 1/2 lb bottle."
Clutch cable broke Friday morning out in the dunes while leading a few. Now I know how long it takes me to brake one, five years. I didn't stop and headed back to camp, I just happened to come across Rhino but didn't know about the sprocket until later. Thanks for the Cable Matt!
Being my first day working dayshift in like 18 years and being crap faced on Mia Tai's everynight needless to say I'm glad I had a vacation day for monday. I'm still not a 100% and to top it off I'm here at work and can't do shit cause someone else is in the way.
We ate at a Thai food place just passed 4th st in town next to the bead store. Guess why we were at the bead store. Anyway excellant food, I was impressed. Ordered #31 and #41.
Other than that it was a beautiful low key weekend.
