The course is being run in the "flats" this year.... south of the traditional "hill" course.

8 miles of flat, sandy whoops.

They say its because the level of the lake, but the lake has been high for weeks.

They didnt release the "new course" until registration closed... and announced immediatly after.... " NO REFUNDS!!!!"

Thats really fucked up... the plan was to run the flats the entire time....

What? I'll go ride the desert, it's more exciting and less expensive.

Riding today has tempered my disappointment over the course change. It was a lot of fun. Not a replacement for the original (with Main Street) nor the course of the last few years. But a lot of fun anyhow. I don't think "the channel's too high" is going to fly two years in a row, so I guess next year's course will reveal all. Actually what would be real cool would be to run a course that went both South and North of the Lake. Running the Mayor's "race" (with Cepek) and then Open class tomorrow.

Had a blast racing with Ryan in the Mayor's / Amateur / Pro race. We went back and forth for 36 minutes and he won by a freaking 0.4 seconds. That's a wheel in real money. On the way we had trips in the lake, very ill-advised block pass attempts (sorry), bar-banging, hill-side end-swapping, slide-outs, drafting at 90+ mph, bumps, bumps and more bumps. I'd go faster in a few spots, but Ryan just seemed able to motor by in the roughest stuff. (Got to get me some of that RG3 suspension - and maybe some Flexx bars.) Crippling arm pump - I think we were both just holding on at the end. I think we were 20th and 21st in a large field.

Expensive? Yes. Exciting? You betcha!

Nice job Mike. Image

I'm so out of shape now I'd be lucky if I lasted a lap.
