Went to pismo july 9-10 and have needle question, 01 500 newly rebuilt, ported, rad valve,250 ign,pc pipe. 200 main with dgn, 55 pilot. top end jetting perfect up the hills WFO! problem is the dgn on bottom clip runs consistently lean till its out of the way, does not surge, just thirsty. tried dgk and bottom is better. it needs a needle thats the same but richer. suggestions please! :?:

It's the dunes, just keep it wide open!!! JK man I suck at jetting, Bob is pretty much the man with jetting and might be able to help but it seems most guys who are chasing down jetting throw the stock carb in the trash can and go with the PWK..good luck others will chime in.

Yup..... maybe with something oxygenated like VP113 a #200 works, but not on regular gas.

I dont understand your post. You said the DGN runs too lean, but its too thirsty at the same time?

Whats wrong with the DGK?

Thank you Bob! went to pismo sat july 9-10. i'm trying to get this bitch jetted before upcoming Pismo ride with gang. all i got from Brit is ba ba ba!. i'm running 50/50 sunoco 110 with 91 gas. runs fine at wfo with the 200 main, dgn bottom clip setting. ran fine at hollister hills wfo with 185 main, dgn bottom clip on memorial day. it runs smooth but lean when you run on the needle, very bottom is fine, top is great. its the needle range thats the problem. the dgk is good at bottom then leans out the rest of its range. do i need a egk? is taper more important than length? i dont want to blow up when i endo in the sand in front of everyone. i guess it :? wont because the main is good!

ive used 185 at glamis in mid summer and it worked good so its possible 200 could be in the ballpark at pismo depending on temp and other things. if it aint blubbering then your not too far off.

its pain in the ass messing with jets at the dunes but if you put in 1 or 2 sizes bigger and find that blubber point then go down 1 or 2 and youll be safe. if you want to be a hero go down a couple more sizes but theres always risk of seize in the sand. memorial day i ran the snot out of mine 600' wide open up sand mountain about 30 times. 1 size below where it had slight blubber and it worked good. could of dropped one more i supposed but it wasnt worth fukin with. wasnt there to prove anything

Just get her close and run it... If it pings fatten it up a bit if it blubbers lean her out. Brit's running Nitrious so no matter what you do his bike is going to be faster so the only hope to wax fools will be on Skills. I am certainly not the king of the dunes or jetting but my bike runs good enough that when I get smoked it usually has nothing to do with the bike and everything to do with the pilot....not the pilot jet. Also don't get too worked up over the internet Banter, most people are super cool in person. You have to be a little cocky to think the bike for you is a CR500 so of course that comes with some lip. Look in the Pismo upcoming ride post where I ask "what I should bring?" and the reply is "a good attitude"

Ok Brit your on.

People trip when I tell them I have a 62 pilot and sometimes it a little surggy and to make most of it go away is 1/4-1/2 turn out on a PJ at Pismo. But then this cylinder is ported,... say differently.

Also using a EGH needle and 172 main. If I use a D.. needle she will ping at the 3/4 range garunteed?

Unless a cylinder is perhaps ported for top end I don't see having to go more than 180/185?

Those early motors were fast, my clapped out '86 motor I think would put the spank down on the motor I have now.....It's shaping up to be a good weekend of shit talking and drag racing
