so im racing the chiliwack piston run, forget to swap my transponder to the chest proctector i was wearing and was last into the woods
2nd lap it feels like i got stung by a bee in the nuts  feel aroung to see whats going on and nothing, half a lap later i bail and notice my gas cap is hanging on by just a hair... ok i see what the problem is, but lost a lot of gas, i was real lucky motor was surging real bad as i pulled in the gas pits basicaly ran outa gas right there

came in 3rd int 3 25km (15.5 mile) laps riding for 3 hour 45 minutes (average 4.1 mph) had quite a bit of energy left but the right claw hand is killing me so as soon as i got home i ordered a set of flex bars, hope they help, and hopefully str dosent mangle my crank again
disnt get laped by bobby prochenau for the first time ever so im happy about that

i was really thinking a yz250 would be a much better machine for racing but this race really brought me back to my senses, if i can get the vibes down i will be just as fast or faster than on a 250 in any race

basicaly for the extra 3 seconds make sure your gas cap is tightened down before leaving the gas stop
also got the "smooth is fast" thing figured out, wasnt going all out and made less mistakes and didnt tire out and ended up being faster

I feel your pain ! I had the same thing happen to me on a CR500 at Lake Lefroy Desert Race in the late 80's. Got to 'enjoy' the unique sensation of frostbite of the groin, and heat prostration of the rest of the body, simultaneously. I figured that, on balance, that made me comfortable . . . ? Well done on yr finish position tho. The old fi'hunj can still get results eh !

im pretty sure i spun less than the guy with the trials bike, proper clutch, rpm, and throttle control is magical
if i had to guess id say i was at a 2200 rpm average over the whole race

once i get the claw hand fixed ill step up to expert (again)

Hell yeah brother ! Lake Lefroy was an annual pilgrimage back in the day when Brett Sawyer was running Goldfields events . . . Kopai dust and 'salt lake white-out' was an institution !
